As it turns out, the writer of this book and I have been the closest of friends for many years but that doesn't matter for this review. This is a masterful book that captured not only the details of complicated American lives and families, but also described the flavor of the times. Great history books do more than merely outline linear events. This book discusses the drives of the participants and clears the way for an understanding about the real nature of activity inside families. I have been a psychotherapist for many years. I have seen the effects of people that violate their own inner guiding principles and the effect this can have on individuals and their families. Dr. Monroe discusses how the inner principles that guided his family created impact on the family and then how their principles had an impact on what the family did. I liked that part very much. Keith is a great writer and one that I have always enjoyed reading. Here too. I had a great time reading this book. It is a fascinating read. Walt BroadbentProduct details
